AIDS fund raiser will be “A Day to Remember." Ginger Manchester, the reigning Miss Gay Midwest, and Kimberly Adrian, Sunday night show director at Numbers, have planned a major AIDS fundraising event. In cooperation with Numbers, Sunday, July 25, has been labeled "A Day to Remember," and features a full day of activities starting at 1 pm. All monies raised will be donated to the Hillard Smith Memorial Fund and Kamana House.

Businesses are being asked to donate money or items to be offered as door prizes and silent auction items. There will also be a "date giveaway" with desirable personnel being auctioned off to the highest bidder for a complete date package. The auction will be hosted by Lou Catania, manager of U4ia Nightclub.

The weekend kicks off on Saturday night, July 24 at U4ia with food, T-shirts, AIDS awareness emblems, and hearts to be put on a commemorative board the next day.

On Sunday, starting at 1 pm at Numbers, there will be a luncheon, board games, the silent auction, special local and out of town guest appearances, the placing of commemorative hearts for those who have died from AIDS complications, and the date giveaway auction. Join in the excitement. For more information call 251-2979.

Quilt panels honor Queen singer at Oberlin. Fans of the rock group Queen plan to blanket Oberlin College with Names Project quilts memorializing the British band's lead vocalist, Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS complications in 1991.

Directors of the Detroit-based "Royal Vision Club" have named Oberlin College as the site of their annual convention, August 20-22. The panels are scheduled to be displayed in the college's Hall Auditorium lobby from noon to 10 pm on Aug. 20 and 21, and noon to 6 pm on Aug. 22.

For more information or to help the Ohio Human Interest Organization by volunteering during the showing, call 960-2050 or 800-447-7163.

a Pledge Walk for everyone on August 28.

Entry fees vary for each event; the registration deadline is July 23. All proceeds support the services of the West Side Women's Center (WSWC), a major referral center for over 4,500 women from throughout Cuyahoga County and surrounding areas. One of the main reasons the WSWC has adopted a sports festival as its major

fundraiser is because the attributes that can be attained through sports participation are the same attributes that women who come to the center are encouraged to develop: selfesteem, leadership, independence, assertiveness, pride and confidence.

To register, contact the WSWC, 4207 Lorain Ave., Cleveland, OH 44113; call 651-1450.
